A charming little village in the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Mison is located at an altitude of 638 m, at the foot of a hill. It is located not far from Laragne-Montéglin, Le Poët and Sisteron, about sixty kilometers from Digne-les-Bains. Dominated by the remains of its castle, it offers a breathtaking view of the Buëch valley.
Occupied since Prehistory, as evidenced by the remains of protohistoric circular walls discovered on site, the territory of Mison developed in Antiquity, after the Roman conquest. But it was not until the 13th century and the construction of the castle that it really took off.
Strongly affected by the rural exodus of the mid-19th century, the commune of Mison has however long been known for its wine culture, which is now abandoned. Today, the town's farmers still benefit from several IGP (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence wines, Provence honey, apples from the Alpes de Haute-Durance, etc.).
