Manderen is a pretty little village of about 430 inhabitants located in the Moselle department. Nestled in the northeast of France, this town is in the heart of the "Country of 3 borders", just 2 kilometers from Germany and Luxembourg.

Moselle village in the Pays de Sierck, Manderen is attached to the district of Thionville-Est and the township of Sierck-les-Bains. Located north of the department, this charming town is about thirty kilometers from Thionville and forty kilometers from Metz.

Formerly land of Lorraine and the lordship of Fremerstrof (Saarland), the Tunting hamlet was attached to the town in 1830. Through the various conquests and changes to the boundaries of the territory, it was called then Tinting Tenting-Mensberg and finally Tuntingen. Things to see and do

The exceptional location of Manderen at the crossroads of land French, German and Luxembourg gives it a unique charm. Nestled in a protected natural valley, Manderen is the ideal starting point to discover the Moselle walks.

Traversed by an ancient Roman road, the village has many witnesses of its history. The laundry, the parish church of Saint-Etienne and Saint-Nicolas chapel Tunting worth a detour to visit.

The history of Manderen Manderenois and is closely linked with water. His numerous mills bear witness to the daily life revolved around water. Located on the Mannerebach and its two tributaries, the creek and the Tunting Stiesling stream, oil mills, flour mills and the green charm of the valley landscape.

Manderen owes its exceptional cachet Malbrouck Castle (Schloss Meinsberg). Built on a rocky thick clusters, this listed historic castle is a Passion Moselle site, owned by the County Council of the Moselle. Fully restored, this magnificent building is the ideal setting to soak up life in the Middle Ages. The castle is since 1998 an exhibition that offers throughout the year a rich and varied cultural program in a unique historical setting: permanent and temporary exhibitions, visits, workshops, privatized spaces, boutique, coffee...

While in Manderen, do not miss to taste the local terroir products: foie gras, rillettes, confits, charcuterie production house with free-range farm poultry. Local producers propose the direct sale of their products. A small tasting is a must!

Events and festivities

Malbrouck Castle in Manderen organizes many festivities throughout the year.

In March, young and old have an appointment to the castle to the traditional hunt for Easter eggs.

Also in March, the "Parenthesis Nature" is the opportunity to discover the beginnings of the spring in the heart of Manderen Valley: visit wilderness led by a guide Ravin du Diable and the Source of Husprung.

In April, the castle hosts a festival dedicated to young people: "The Loulous Malbrouck". An appointment colorful and cheerful.

In May, on the occasion of the "Day of the Moselle", the castle is open free to the public: the artisans labeled "Product Moselle Passion" are present to showcase their products and expertise.

Also in May, the castle of Malbrouck combines with the castle of the Dukes of Lorraine in Sierck to hold their Walk for Land Lords Mosellane. In a medieval atmosphere, this hike offers an unusual path to the heart of the Middle Ages.

In July and October, do not miss to discover "the Malbrouck Nights" nocturnal and amazing castle tour with performances of dance and music.

In September, the building opens its doors to the public on the occasion of European Heritage Days.
