Lourdios-Ichère is a commune in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, in the Aquitaine region, 20 km south of Oloron-Sainte-Marie.
The locality whose territory is vast 16 km² belongs to the valley of Aspe, one of the three valleys of Haut Bearn with those of Ossau in the east and Barétousa in the west.
Watered by different tributaries of the Gave Aspe, Lourdios-Ichère was created in 1820 by the merger of two entities: Lourdios which depended on Osse-en-Aspe and Ichère which reported Sarrance.
The village itself is located 450 m above sea level, but the town is 1627 m high and has many hamlets or isolated farms because of what has always been its main activity: cattle and sheep farming and production. cheeses from Ossau-Iraty appellation sheep.
