The castle of Lormont, also called the castle of the Black Prince, takes place in the heart of the Gironde and is today the subject of an inscription in the supplementary inventory of Historical Monuments. Installed as a belvedere on the Garonne and on the entrance to Bordeaux, the building takes place on the remains of a first castle from the 11th century.
Rebuilt many times, it takes its name from Edward of Woodstock, the famous Black Prince, Prince of Wales and Aquitaine who stayed there in the 14th century. Subsequently the residence of the archbishops of Bordeaux, the castle of Lormont notably hosted in the 15th century the negotiations for the end of the Hundred Years War.
Completely restored in the years 2017, it now houses the local branch of the theater school, Cours Florent, in part of its space.
