La Roche-Neuville

At St. Sulpice, the castle of the Rongère is an old castle today registered historic monument for its facades and roofs and classified for its fleet. Private property, it was replaced in the sixteenth century by a more elegant castle and possessing no more defensive target. Venue of John Bezier, chouan head of the French Revolution in the late eighteenth century, it presents yet also a beautiful chapel Saint-Jacques in the second half of the fourteenth century. Be sure not to admire the church of the town with its traditional architecture of the region.

Listed historical monument, the church of Saint-Aubin-sur-Mayenne Loigné is a Romanesque building whose style can still be seen on the nave and tower. Altered in the course of the fifteenth century, it has since then flaming windows and corner buttresses. Inside, it is possible to admire two altarpieces in limestone and marble of the seventeenth century, or an altar altarpiece of the seventeenth century with a Nativity and polychrome stone statues of St. Peter, St. John the Baptist or St. Aubin. Be sure not to appreciate the Viaulnay manor with its chapel of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries and the castle of Pear trees. The dolmen of the Cadurie not lack either interest and reveals an ancient human presence in the territory of the municipality of La Roche-Neuville.
