Romanesque architectural ensemble located in the heart of the Var, the abbey of La Celle is now classified as a Historic Monument. Property of the Departmental Council of Var, it was built during the thirteenth century and is today the subject of a major campaign of complete reconstruction making it inaccessible to the public until the first quarter of 2021.
Occupied by Benedictine nuns, and reformed in the 17th century by Cardinal Mazarin, it will allow you to discover, once its work is completed, the Church of Sainte-Perpétue with its 13th century sarcophagus, the heating room, the chapter house with its pointed arched vault with heavy braces, the cloister of the nuns or the garden completely restored in the 20th century and revealing several bicentennial trees.
