Built in the 14th century by the monks of the Cistercian abbey of Grandselve, the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption church of Grenade, in Haute-Garonne, has undergone many changes, especially in the course of the 19th century.
Listed as a Historic Monument, it is a fine example of southern Gothic architecture with in particular its 15th century Toulouse-type octagonal bell tower with twin bays. Entirely in traditional red bricks, the Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption church also has beautiful paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries as well as gilded wood chandeliers inside.
