A small rural village in the Ardèche, Cros-de-Géorand is now part of the community of communes of the Montagne d'Ardèche. It takes place near Sainte-Cirgues-en-Montagne, Sainte-Eulalie and Montpezat-sous-Bauzon, about sixty kilometers from Privas.

Of very ancient origin, the municipality of Cros-de-Géorand is today mainly appreciated for its preserved natural heritage. Lovers of outdoor life and outdoor sports can take several marked hiking trails.

Things to see and do

While passing through Cros-de-Géorand, be sure to admire the Cassonié mill, listed as a Historic Monument. It is the last vestige of an agricultural complex. Built in the 19th century, it was used until the 1950s for cereals, wheat, barley, rye. It has the particularity of revealing a broom roof covering.

The Church of the Assumption is also worth a stop during your walk.

To admire the local flora and fauna, head for the Barrage sur le Gage trail, 10 km long, or the Lac de la Palisse. The Pessade ski resort, with its breathtaking views of the Puys chain, is also very popular. Sliding sports enthusiasts can take around fifty Nordic ski trails of all levels, while the youngest will appreciate the toboggan run. Snowshoe trails and dog sled rides are also available.

A market is offered on Saturday morning.

The village festival is held every year on August 15 with, in particular, a market for local producers and artisans, musical entertainment and shows for the whole family.
