Located on the peninsula of Antibes, the La Garoupe lighthouse is more than one hundred meters high. Considered to be one of the most powerful lighthouses in the Mediterranean, it is nearly thirty meters high and offers a luminous range of almost sixty kilometers for the navy.
Although the La Garoupe lighthouse dates back to the first half of the 19th century, the present building was completely rebuilt in 1948 following its destruction by German troops during the Second World War.
Listed in the general inventory of Historic Monuments, it rises above the famous La Garoupe wood, a nine-hectare estate managed by the city.
