The Happy Valley is a garden listed as a Historic Monument. The visit to the garden, based on the history of people and plants in Reunion Island, covers all the riches and specificities of our Reunion biodiversity in two and a half hours. You will discover the ancient part of the 19th century, a tradition of the so-called "change of air" gardens of the time; then a tray that acts as a "useful garden" with qq fruit trees and other rarer trees. Then a forest slope where I try to reforest only endemic and native species. A short tea break to warm up, with tasting of the jams of the moment (depending on the season and… if there are any left), will close the visit. Some sales of homemade jams and small handicrafts, various textile creations (all handmade, homemade) ; bamboo crafts will accompany this pause-discussion. Then visit the greenhouse; I also sell for those interested in some typical plants of this garden (camellias, azaleas, francceas, anthurium, orchids, seedlings of native/endemic plants etc etc). End of the visit by the fairy cave. It will take about 2:30 to 3 hours for the visit. Prices: 12 € for adults from 16 years old; €6 for 4-16 year olds; free for under 4s. Groups: consult me. Practical info. Wear shoes that don't fear mud, covering clothes if you're afraid of the cold (especially in winter) or mosquitoes. Still, bring a rain towel and another hot one. Provide mosquito repellent in the summer, especially after heavy rains, as bamboos are important larval deposits.
