Gite in a 15th-century manor house

We'd chosen Labrousse for its proximity to Le Bugue, but Labrousse turned out to be much more appealing. The grounds are immaculately maintained, the accommodations are comfortable and well-supplied, the tranquility is all you could hope for, but the real attraction of Labrousse is its host, Annick, and her warmth, interest and hospitality. Every point of interest for us in the Perigord is within a 40-km drive, and those drives provide an attraction of their own, introducing you to the countryside. In fact, we learned more of interesting sidetrips from road signs than tourist brochures. Both villages near Labrousse have their own charm, as well, with Sainte-Foy-de-Longas the tiny ville of novels, and Sainte-Alvère the town you see in movies or on postcards. You know those estates you spot through elegant gates and wonder what it might be like to live there? Labrousse is that place.
