Gite in lush greenery in Cathar country, next to a spring. You will be housed in a loft, in the heart of a very large garden, at the foot of the mountain, only birds and squirrels can disturb you. You will not be less the center of the village, close to the bakery, the grocery store and the pharmacy. A small market takes place once a week. As you walk in the garden you will discover the surrounding mountains. From the entrance of the cottage you have a beautiful view of the rocks hillsides in front or, forgetting your car, you can go hiking. If you are not a good walker you will come in a quarter of an hour by car. The cottage is a base from which to visit the castles (Foix - Roquefixade - Montségur -…), the prehistoric sites (Niaux - Le Mas d'Azil - the Prehistory Park), the caves (La Bouiche underground river - Bédeilhac…). You will go up the valley of Ariege to make a small tour in Andorra. From your accommodation, you will go hiking in high or medium mountain, but also walk in the countryside on the hillsides. You will not leave the region without being mounted on the plateau de Beille by car or bicycle. From this plateau located at 2000 m altitude you have a 360 ° view of the surrounding peaks, 2500 m 3000 m still snowy in the spring. Retired tourism professional, knowing the catharism, I will be happy to make you benefit from my experience, and my knowledge of the region. We are less than 100 km from Andorra, by a beautiful mountain road. Cycling fans will climb the Beille plateau (40 km), made famous by the Tour de France. History buffs and castles will go to Foix (10mn), Roquefixade (15mn), Montsegur (30mn) … They can go further back in time and go to the park of prehistory (15mn), to the famous cave Niaux (20mn), or the Mas d'Azil (40mn). Lovers of old tools will go to the Pyrene Forges to see the martin forge, unique in France (5 minutes). For walks or hikes, 1 hour, half day or day we will be happy to tell you.
