On the famous Wine trail, in the heart of the hills of the Côte Chalonnaise, our gite is the ideal starting point for visiting south Burgundy. Easy access (12 km from Chalon/Saône and motorway), situated between Beaune (35 km) and Cluny (45 km), between Tournus (35 km) and Autun (45 km). Many castles and Roman chapels around. Many paths for walking (direct from the gite without taking the car). Several cycling tracks around the gite (the famous 80 km Voie Verte at only 5 km from the gite). Shops and restaurants at only 2 km in Mercurey, or 5 km in Givry. Swimming pool at 1 km (in summer) - We lend bikes and baby equipment. Broadband internet access. We pay special attention to welcome our non-french guests, as we take time to listen to their needs, and we are pleased to help them organising their stay in Burgundy.

A little paradise
La petite maison had everything we needed for a holiday: all equipment, rest, beautiful surroundings, nice walks, interesting places (don't forget to do Chateau Germolles), and a very nice host.

Wonderful holiday
We spent two weeks here in September in this wonderful gite in a working wine village. Xavier who is the owner gave us a very warm welcome and is always available to give help and suggestions for walks and restaurants although he never intrudes. The gite is immaculately clean and very well equipped with comfortable beds and free WiFi, constant hot water and for summer heat air conditioning is installed. The enclosed garden is a wonderful place to enjoy breakfast and Xavier is happy for you to use the tomatoes, raspberries etc there. The village is peaceful but there are towns and villages with markets nearby. I love this cottage and thoroughly recommend staying here.

La Petite Maison - Highly Recommended
We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay in this gite. The stone cottage is very well equipped and is very comfortable. The first floor terrace is ideal for relaxing and dining. Xavier, the owner, was very welcoming, and supplied us with lots of useful information about the surrounding area and places to visit. The area surrounding Saint-Martin-sous-Montaigu is ideal for walking and cycling, with some spectacular views of the of the local countryside and vineyards. Further afield, there are numerous chateaux, churches and museums to visit. We also spent many happy hours wandering the streets of Chalon-sur-Saône, Tournus, Louhans, Beaune and Buxy. We highly recommend this gite.

A most enjoyable place to stay
This is a very comfortable and well fitted out accommodation in a small vineyard village of around 360 inhabitants. The owners -Xavier and Laurence - live on site and are extremely hospitable, with good local knowledge. Xavier gave us directions for the many excellent walks in the vicinity. The surrounding countryside and the many nearby villages are well worth a visit. The local wine is excellent. Saint-Martin-sous-Montaigu is in the Saône-et-Loire department of Burgundy. The vineyards are within Mercurey appellation. While there are no shops in St. Martin there is good shopping in Mercurey 5 minutes away by car and Chalon-sur-Saône is only 20 minutes away. I must mention the lighting. This is the only site in Europe, UK, Ireland or my home country Australia where the supplied lighting was good enough to read by.

At only 12 km from A6 Motorway (Chalon Nord way out). Take Autun direction for 8 km. At the round-about of the Côte Chalonnaise, take to the left direction Givry for only 50 m. Then take to the right, direction Mellecey. Cross Mellecey and 300 m after this village take to the right : Saint Martin S/M. The road goes steep for 200 m and at the stop carry on straight. Approx 300 m on your left here's the gite (just before the second stop). Good luck.
