Gite 1 : Gites de Magalas - Rental - Holidays & weekends in Magalas

Gite 1 : 15 Rue Francaise - Magalas

One of the 3 Gîtes in a Wine House in the pretty historical center of Magalas. The cottage has a kitchen, a dining area (indoor and outdoor) and two bedrooms (each with bathroom). This gite has (first) use of the courtyard dining table. In practical terms, the lodging is all on one level, so suitable for people who find the stairs difficult (however, the village of Magalas is rather hilly)..

The cottage has its own entrance, and is comfortable, fully equipped and has a wifi. The house is 15 minutes north of Beziers, at the foot of the Languedoc National Park, near the Orb river and 20 km from the beaches of Serignan, Valras and Vias. The cottage offers a comfortable base for a holiday in this attractive and sunny area. You are within walking distance of a restaurant, a cafe, a tobacco, a bank, a food, a pharmacy and a bakery in the village : 5 minutes by car, You will find Intermarche, Aldi and another bakery / butcher.

There are many opportunities to visit wineries in this area : many highly qualified establishments. Nearby are Pezenas, Beziers and many attractive villages, while Narbonne, Montpellier, Nimes and Carcassonne are even further away. The area is ideal for walking, cycling or kayaking. There are many beaches within 20 minutes drive and in the other direction you will find the hills of the national park. Nearest airports : Beziers (20mins), Carcassonne, Montpellier (1 hour), Perpignon (1.5 hours) and Girona (2 hours).

Secret Languedoc Location
This is our favourite area in France and we have been staying in these gites since 2011, mostly in Gite 1. They are all very comfortable, spacious, well furnished, well equipped and tastefully decorated. There is plenty of linen and towels, which we've found is lacking in a lot of gites, wifi which works really well and new flat screen televisions with English and French channels. Being centrally located in the village, you can walk to the two restaurants, the excellent baker who is very friendly and keen to help clients with their French, post office, two hairdressers, tabac, bank, the greengrocer who sources fresh fruit and vegetables from the surrounding villages, and the small supermarket with very competitive prices who does roast chicken on Sundays. The large Intermarché is only a 2 minute drive away and here you will also find an Aldi store, a pharmacy, another baker, a butcher and a petrol station. Of course there are many vineyards and the local wines are excellent. There are beautiful beaches close at hand and it's very easy to get to Spain, Carcassonne, Uzes, Nimes and the Pont du Gard, the Pyrenees and even the Luberon in Provence. The village is lively, with festivals and live entertainment in Summer in the village bar/restaurant. There is also a sports bar, a take-away pizza and a lovely restaurant La Galerie which serves good food at a very realistic price. There are many other excellent restaurants in nearby villages as well as Summer festivals. Each year we have friends and family coming to stay with us, as they love the area and the accommodation. The owners of these gites are very friendly and helpful. There are never any problems with deposits or payments, and they have people on hand in the village in case a problem arises. I highly recommend these gites as the best value for money in the area, location, comfort and just the enjoyment of the region.
