The Mare Cottage - Rental - Holidays & weekends in Lonlay-l'Abbaye

La Mare - Lonlay-l'Abbaye

The Mare Cottage is a beautiful converted barn of the 18th century in an old orchard in a small hamlet of Orne in Lower Normandy. The accommodation for 8 people is on 2 floors, the cottage is nicely decorated, well equipped and beautifully furnished with antique and period items. The kitchen is composed of integrated elements, a table and chairs, a pine sideboard, a large pine shelf, a new gas stove (bottled gas), a washing machine dishes, a tumble dryer, a microwave, a Tassimo coffee machine and all the usual small appliances. There is plenty of crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils and gadgets, as well as a selection of cookbooks - perfect for all passionate cooks! There is British television provided. There is another table and chairs in the living room, under the mezzanine. A kitchen corridor leads to a charming lounge / diner / game room with a wood burning stove, comfortable seating, a small library and French doors leading to the front of the cottage. There are many books, riddles, games and DVDs to keep everyone busy. There is a TV that plays DVDs. We also have a video player and a large library of vintage videos, many children's movies including many Disney. Above the living room is a mezzanine (4th bedroom), with double bed and en-suite shower room - this room is not suitable for young children due to the steep staircase and the open nature of the space. There are 3 bedrooms on the second floor accessible by stairs from the kitchen, a double bed (antique brass king size bed) with TV screen, a large double bedroom and a smaller bedroom with a single bed and a foldable single bed - There is a toilet "Jack & Jill" accessible in suite from the double room and the other rooms via a second door, it is very convenient at night! On the ground floor, outside the hallway, is a family bathroom with two sinks and a large custom designed mosaic tub, ideal for young children. In mezzanine, there is a shower room and a toilet. There is a toilet "Jack & Jill" on the first floor. There is a wood stove, only needed between October and March, in the living room. There is oil central heating which also heats the hot water. Outside, there is a small lot at the back of the cottage that leans against the fields, but the main area is the very large orchard at the front of the cottage, perfect for running and playing games or simply find a quiet place and relax. There is a patio with a beautiful view of the valley, with new outdoor seating and barbecue, it is a secluded, very private place and not overlooked - pajamas all day if you wish...
