Founded in 1136 by a lord of Le Larzac, Sylvanès Abbey, nestling at the heart of a woodland valley in the Grands Causses Regional Nature Park, is an old Cistercian abbey which has been restored as a cultural and spiritual centre. Reminders of the abbey's monastic past include a beautiful Romanesque church with fabulous acoustics, part of the cloister, as well as the sacristy, chapterhouse and scriptorium.
A renowned international music festival takes place there in July and August.
