Between Amiens and Péronne, the Somme river has formed numerous lakes. To view some of them, head towards the Vaux viewpoint, which gives a beautiful view of the restful landscapes of the Somme valley. Rich in eels, the peaceful lakes of the upper Somme are a fishermen's paradise.
Great for walking, the Somme valley is also a great place for river tourism with the Somme canal going from Saint-Simon in the Aisne to Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, through Cappy. A wonderful way to discover part of the landscapes of the Somme along the water. And of course, do not forget to sample the famous smoked eel, speciality of the valley!
