Additional information
La Roque-Gageac

The village of La Roque-Gageac, ranked among the most beautiful villages in France, is nestled between the cliffs and the Dordogne. It enjoys a microclimate, almost Mediterranean, with its southern exposure.

La Roque-Gageac and its inhabitants, the Laroquois, reserve you a warm welcome every year in this country of fine dining.

Things to see and do

La Roque-Gageac aligns the white and ocher facades of the houses. Many small streets lead to the foot of the cliff, from which you can enjoy a magnificent view of the river.

Next to the mid cliff church and through this natural solarium, flourishes an amazing exotic garden with palms, banana trees, agaves, fig trees, cactus, bamboo...

By extending your walk you will discover the Tarde manor, the remains of the Renaissance that still dominates the heart of the village.

To discover the village to the river, the best way is to board the famous barges. These traditional flat-bottomed boats, once used to transport goods along the Dordogne. Most barges navigating this part of the river, were only the down as they were dismantled on arrival to be sold as firewood.
