Who hasn't heard of Pigalle? A tourist area that's famous for its particularly lively nightlife, Pigalle is located at the heart of Paris' 18th arrondissement, at the bottom of the celebrated Montmartre hill. The area comes alive at dusk, and many of the most committed night owls can be found strolling around the neighbourhood and partying until dawn!
As one of Paris' top night-time destinations, Pigalle offers many places to party, starting with its famous cabaret, the Moulin Rouge. It was founded in 1889 and the French cancan shows immortalised by the painter Toulouse-Lautrec have made this iconic site famous. There are also famous concert halls in Pigalle, such as Le Divan du Monde and La Cigale, which have welcomed great artists since they opened. As well as these renowned venues, there are a number of bars, nightclubs, sex shops and other saucy establishments.
The unique and quirky Museum of Eroticism at 72 boulevard de Clichy is dedicated to erotic art in all its forms, with paintings, sculptures and other objects.
