Inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, the immense 815-hectare park of the Palace of Versailles is renowned all over the world for the beauty of its luxurious formal gardens designed by André Le Nôtre in the 17th century for the Sun King Louis XIV
Great place for a walk, the majestic park spreads out on both sides of the Grand Canal and is a real outdoor museum of classic sculpture. As you stroll along the pathways, you can admire a wonderful collection of statues, fountains, ponds, flowerbeds, copses and ornamental lakes. Highlights include the Orangery and its exotic trees, the Neptune and Apollo Fountains, the Petit Trianon and the Grand Trianon, two architectural gems, and the charming Queen's Hamlet.
In summer, a host of fantastic shows take place in the park, including the grand musical fountain displays (Grandes Eaux Musicales), evening shows (Fêtes de Nuit) and evening fountain display (Grandes Eaux Nocturnes).
