Surrounded by greenery, Lake Crescent is a 165-hectare expanse of water that spans the departments of Yonne and Nièvre, and three municipalities, namely Chastellux-sur-Cure, Marigny-l'Église and Saint-Germain-des-Champs. Since 1932, its 37-metre high dam and hydroelectric power station have been producing drinking water for the Avallonnais. Together with the Pannecière and Chaumeçon lakes, it also helps to prevent flooding in Paris by regulating the level of the Yonne and Seine rivers.

Yet this functional site is also a wild, wooded place of recreation appreciated by locals, tourists and fishing enthusiasts. Located in a hilly area of the Morvan Regional Nature Park, it's an ideal place to relax. You can swim or go kayaking, catch carnivorous fish, or go for a walk and stop by one of its dedicated rest areas with picnic tables and children's games.
