Located at the gateway to Queyras Regional Nature Park between Vars and Izoard passes, the town of Guillestre possesses a beautiful religious heritage.
The Gothic church of the Assomption built in local stone features a remarkable portal with two columns rising out of statues of recumbent lions and a three-storey bell tower decorated on the outside with a beautiful sundial.
Guillestre has also preserved old houses and vestiges of its surrounding wall in the form of remains of ramparts and four gates.
Fans of local produce must not miss Guillestre market, which takes place every Monday morning.
