Guillestre

Guillestre is the capital of the "Land of Guillestrois" which consists of 8 municipalities. This territory has a central position because of Guillestrois you can make in 30 minutes or less in Queyras, in Cases in Briançon, the lake of Serre-Ponçon.

Numerous remains of the city's protection walls dating from the 14th / 15th / 16th century are still visible with its ramparts and its many entrance gates: Sainte-Catherine of the fourteenth century, Saint-Esprit of the fourteenth century, Saint- Louis of the sixteenth century, Saint-Jean of the sixteenth century, all surmounted by the effigy of their saint.
Remains of a 12th century castle remain visible with its tower of Eygliers.
The church of the Assumption, in the Gothic style of the 16th century, in pink marble with its porch "Réal" supported by columns resting on lions lying.

The semicircular entrance gate with its monumental carved door of the 16th century and its astonishing lock.
Inside, the wrought iron communion table of the eighteenth century.
Note: its magnificent 3-storey square bell tower, adorned on its south facade with a sundial.

Many pedestrian discoveries are to be made all along the narrow streets of Guillestre:

Sixteenth century houses on Place Albert.
Sixteenth century house with turret and carved door.
High houses from the 16th century.
Two sundials of the eighteenth and twentieth centuries.
Several squares and squares fountains and picturesque alleys.
