In the centre of the island of Grande-Terre, between Morne-à-l'Eau, Sainte-Anne and Le Moule, lies the Grands Fonds region. Quiet and green, this hilly area is characterised by its small lush valleys, planted with fruit trees and crops and enclosed by the limestone hills. The Grands Fonds, whose highest point is the Escale cliff, 135 metres above sea level, is ideally suited for hiking. The unmissable Prince's Trail (Trace du Prince), which connects Deshauteurs to the village of Sainte-Anne, invites you to discover this farmland dotted with Creole gardens and various ponds used for watering cattle.
The traditional festival of the Grands Fonds, which takes place between Christmas and New Year, offers many activities such as parades and an ox pulling contest.
