Moselle has a wealth of craft and popular traditions. In Saint-Louis-lès-Bitche, a few kilometres from Meisenthal,
a town known for its artistic blown glass Christmas baubles, stands the Saint-Louis Crystal Museum.
This former royal manufactory is over 400 years old, making it the oldest of the French crystal works. It presents a celebration of coloured crystal, cutting and gilding: admire the glass-makers' work on crystal in fusion, then that of the cutters, engravers and decorators, many of whom have "Best Workers of France" certification.
On the guided tour, you will be shown lavish objects made with unique expertise: jugs and glasses, paperweights, chandeliers, nightlights, decorative objects, etc. These are exported all around the world, bearing the hallmark of the French art of living.
