A town with many identities, Enghien-les-Bains in Val-d'Oise has been renowned since the 19th century for its prestigious spa and rich architectural heritage. Set on the edge of a 43-hectare lake, it's the only spa in Île-de-France, and its sulphur-rich waters are renowned for their benefits in treating ENT and respiratory disorders, as well as osteoarthritis.
Its Casino and baths, a stone's throw from Paris, have been drawing visitors to the area for 200 years. It offers nearly fifty different shows every year: theatre, music, cabaret, opera, musical comedy, one-man shows… Since 2000, the lake shores have come to life in early July with the Barrière Enghien Jazz Festival, a flagship music event where the biggest names in jazz perform during four days. The Enghien-les-Bains Arts Centre, meanwhile, is a thriving arts venue with a focus on contemporary creation in dance, film, music, theatre and the visual arts.
