Offering a wealth of places of interest to discover, the Charente valley is endowed with remarkable sites, such as Angoulême, Cognac, Jarnac, Bassac and its abbey, and Verteuil-sur-Charente.
Other places not to be missed: Saint-Simon, a village located on the river where barges used to be manufactured, these traditional boats used for goods transportation. A signposted circuit shows visitors the evidence of its rich past.
