The Marne is the leading Champagne-producing département in France. Its various vineyards - Montagne de Reims, Côte des Blancs, Vallée de la Marne and Massif de Saint-Thierry - are a must for wine enthusiasts. In Verzenay, a town located in the Reims Mountain (Montagne de Reims) vineyard, the wine growing museum (Musée de la Vigne) explains all about the Champagne vineyards. Essential places to visit along the trail are the city of Reims and the town of Épernay, home to the most famous Champagne houses, which open their cellars to visitors.

Second French Champagne-producing département after the Marne, the Aube vineyards extends over 6,700 hectares. In the département, the Côte des Bar from Bar-sur-Aube to Bar-sur-Seine is the main region producing Champagne, followed by Montgueux near Troyes, and Villenauxe-la-Grande.

The Champagne tourist trail, which passes through a range of certified wineries, introduces visitors to the wine heritage of the Champagne region and its beautiful vineyard landscapes.
