At the heart of Gascony in the district of Cazaux-Savès, Caumont Castle, home to the same family for centuries, is a magnificent reminder of the Renaissance. This elegant building, a listed Historic Monument built from 1525 to 1535 by Pierre de Nogaret de la Valette on the site of an old castle fort which had belonged to Gaston Phébus, was the birthplace of Jean-Louis de Nogaret, Duke of Épernon.
The main courtyard, furnished rooms, a romantic chapel and the king's bedroom where Henry III of Navarre stayed are some of the attractions featured on the tour. Around the castle lies a huge wooded park which is ideal for walks.
