Located in the south-east of the department of Allier, the Bourbonnais Mountains are a peaceful mid-mountain area whose highest point is the Puy de Montoncel, at an altitude of 1,287 metres. Both verdant and unspoilt, its superb landscapes formed of gentle slopes, forests and rolling prairies make it an ideal nature destination for hiking, horse-riding and mountain biking. Along its paths and trails, discover its marvellous natural sites: the Pisserotte Waterfall in Arfeuilles, the Grotto of the Fairies in Ferrières-sur-Sichon, Puy de Montoncel, Puy du Roc and the Assise Forest, to name but a few.

As for its cultural heritage, the Bourbonnais Mountains have plenty to offer: the artists' village of Châtel-Montagne and its beautiful Romanesque church, the relics of Montgilbert Castle, the archaeological museum of Glozel, and the wickerwork museum in Le Mayet-de-Montagne are just some of the places to visit.
