In south-west Martinique, you can ad mire a series of superb coves at your leisure. Some of them, for example Black Cove (Anse Noire) and Dufour Cove (Anse Dufour), in the municipality of Les Anses-d'Arlet, are really worth a visit to enjoy their beautiful scenery. Once you get there, you'll discover a magnificent site where the two coves are separated by a rocky promontory.

Some fairly steep steps take you up to the splendid Black Cove, which owes its name to the colour of its amazing volcanic sand. Here you can enjoy an unspoilt, lush setting that's unlike any other beach in south Martinique. Black Cove is also known for its splendid sea beds, so don't forget your diving masks, flippers and snorkels if you want to go and admire its wonderful fauna and flora. With shade provided by coconut palms and other trees, the beach isn't very busy on weekdays, so you'll enjoy plenty of peace and quiet. An ideal place for a rest before carrying on with your tour of the island!

Then it's time to discover Dufour Cove, whose golden sand stands in sharp contrast to the neighbouring cove. Peaceful and charming with its fishermen's huts and colourful boats, the beach has a few areas of shade provided by palm trees. All that remains is to sit down on the warm sand and appreciate the splendours of the turquoise sea…
