Established in 1966, this modern winter sports resort in Upper Chablais, situated at an altitude of 1,800 metres, forms a harmonious group of wood-clad apartment buildings. In the winter, the resort becomes pedestrian only. Cars are then not allowed in the resort centre and replaced by sleds. Avoriaz is in the heart of the Portes du Soleil (Gateway to the Sun), a vast ski area with 650 kilometres of pistes.

On a sunny plateau south facing and overlooking the Morzine valley, Avoriaz is located in the heart of the vast alpine Portes du Soleil. Close to the Swiss border, between Mont Blanc and Lake Geneva, the station mimetic architecture is the perfect example of modernism integrated nature. Nestled in lush mountain pastures, Avoriaz is a resort in the enchanting area: pines, lakes, greenery, chalets, varied wildlife... Station without car, symbol of the town environmental protection, Avoriaz is also renowned for its architecture where unusual wooden chalets seem to merge with the rocky back plan.

Pedestrianized, it's a feature that offers a quality of life at the heart of the resort. Tonic, it helps to relax with family while enjoying the beautiful landscape to explore.

Avoriaz comes as a great leisure club with a multitude of activities in the village center: Adventure trail for children, children's village, horseback riding, archery, beach volleyball, mini golf, multi-sports area. In this great area of ​​freedom, children play freely. In July 2012, opened Avoriaz Aquariaz a real aquatic paradise to discover!

Avoriaz 1800 is the heart of the largest ski area International of Europe: Les Portes du Soleil. A common package to 12 Portes du Soleil, giving access to 650 km of slopes allows skiers to cross the border freely and give itself a gourmet stop in Switzerland.

A page of history... The boom years... The development agreement station (signed on 28 December 1962) allows the developer to develop the plateau "of Avorea" its ski fields and also operate the lifts. The current access road was a winding dirt road and construction cable. After much effort and perseverance, the Hotel des Dromonts opens December 22, 1966. It is the heart of the resort and this innovative architecture sets the tone for future constructions. Volumes are created depending on the surrounding nature, the materials incorporated into the landscape. The architecture leaves dress the red cedar without further polish structures. Then time shape, patina, makes the single site.
