Additional information
Autoire

The known history dates back to the 11th century. While under the control of successive baronies of Castelnau and Gramat Autoire becomes a vassal cities of the vicomte de Turenne. The Viscounts of Turenne took care of their vassals and cities, during the Hundred Years War, Saint-Cere as Autoire had suffered little, well protected by the mighty ramparts of Saint Laurent. However, despite the protection afforded by Viscount William of Beaufort, the town was besieged by the English, already victorious in Haut Quercy. Devastated in 1562 by the Calvinists, the village did not recover the peace in 1588.

Since Autoire protects its site where you can taste the sweetness of life in Quercy.

Local specialty: the Malakoff, created by the cook of General of Columbus, at the Battle of Malakoff, during the Crimean campaign.

Things to see and do

To see the church from the 11th and 12th century, restored, the town hall, the fountain in the village square, the 7 castles (Laroque-Delprat, Limargue, Busqueille, Peyrusse of Banze ...) or manor, which remains General de Colomb (founder of Colomb-Bechar, and commander of French troops at the Battle of Crimea).

The "English Castle", a sort of eagle's nest perched on the cliffside in the largest rocky overhangs, reminiscent of the Hundred Years War, dominates the valley.

The Cascade River Autoire at the bottom of the circus, a height of 30 m (nice stroll under the canopy)
