With a surface area of 117 200 hectares, the Ardennes Regional Nature Park in the north of the department of the Ardennes encompasses five types of landscape: the Ardennes Massif, Givet Headland, Rocroi Plateau, Sormonne Valley and Ardennaise Thiérache. A lush green territory full of forests, hedged farmland, dry grassland, peat bogs, rocky escarpments and rivers, the Ardennes Park is ideal for outdoor leisure activities such as walking, cycling, mountain biking, horse-riding, fishing and canoe-kayak. Walkers and hikers will find plenty to enjoy along the many signposted paths or the superb Trans-Ardennes Greenway. Visitors to this region of the Ardennes can also enjoy its beautiful viewpoints over the Meuse and Semoy loops, discover its traditions and cultures, taste local produce and admire its built heritage, which includes fortified churches, castles and citadels.
