Walk around Verneil: 7 km - Blue signposting (VE1 codification and yellow PR standardisation in progress 2009). This first itinerary departs from the town, from its dovecote and from its play area with picnic facilities, French bowling court, barbecue, etc, and offers views over the village and 1-2 kilometres around it.

Depart from Place de la Mairie. Many car parks in the village around the town hall, the church at the entrance to the village on the D30 or on Place de Verdun.

Take the narrow street to the south behind the church, cross the D30 towards the Ermitage and turn left towards Cosserie.
Cross the Verneil to Vaas road again and 20 m further on, climb up the path dominating the village to reach the D71 and make your way around Pechaudière 50 m further on.
Leave Fremilière on your right and cross the Verneil to Vaas road.
When you arrive at the Aubigné road, turn left and continue for 100 m, leave Roche Bouchée and turn right on to the path leading to the GR36.
To reach Les Oliviers, pass below Le Gruau. Opposite Belle Vue, continue along the GR.
At the end of the path, in the upper reaches of Verneil, join the crossroads on the right, cross the road towards the Water tower.
Walk down the path on the left and pass Vaumorin to the south. Return to the village via Beaudonnière along the forest road.
Enter the village on the left via the Fountain, pass the Wash House and make your way to the church on Place de Verdun (sundial) before returning to Place de la Mairie (dovecote).
