The ramparts of Vézelay walk (30 minutes)

Depart from the town of Vézelay, latitude 47.4632600 (N 47° 27’ 48”), longitude 3.7420700 (E 3° 44’ 31”)

• Vézelay, door of the Barle

• From the Barle gate on the Place du Champ de Foire, head to the left and take the southern walkway (chemin de la Corderie).

• South walkway

• You follow the left, the back of the house Romain Rolland, current museum Zervos and right the Center Jean-Christophe. 300 m further, you see the Tower of the doves.

• Point of view

• You arrive at the end of the southern walkway. Here, unfolds a superb point of view on the surrounding villages and the mountains of Morvan.

• North Ramparts

• Continue the tour of the ramparts down slightly to the right the paved path lined with trees. At 300 meters, on your right a path indicates the chapel of the Cordelle (10 minutes on foot).A left the door Sainte-Croix. Further on you pass the Ursuline Tower, the red tower...

• New door

• You arrive at the New Gate dating from the 14th century, the oldest gate of the village. The gate consists of two large round towers bossed surmounted by a string of consoles on which was a wooden fence forming a watchtower.

• From the Porte Neuve, continue the tour of the ramparts by the Cours Guillet, bordered by walnut trees to reach the Place des Champs de Foire.
