Walk in the park of Nexon Castle in order to take advantage of the rich built and natural heritage. 38.5-hectare wooded and enclosed park, created in the middle of the 19th century by the Count of Choulot, a famous landscape gardener, on request by the De Nexon family, the property's owners from 1633 to 1983. The castle's main stables and ancillary buildings bear witness to the prestigious past of the Nexon Stud Farm. Freely accessible all the year round, motorised vehicles are forbidden. Dogs must be kept on a lead. Today, the permanent big-top of the association "Le Sirque", a National Circus Arts centre, stands alongside the old castle buildings.

Access

When you enter Nexon, follow signs to the "town centre, and pass the church and Nexon Castle. Stop at the car park at the entrance to the castle and park your vehicle. The walk starts as you enter the courtyard. On your right, you will see a large tower, the Tourist office, You can enter and ask for information about the heritage before starting your walk.

Itinerary

You are in the castle's courtyard. On your right, there are several outstanding buildings: the old stables, the caretaker's lodge, the fountain. Pass to the right of the castle and discover the "English river" (pond), as well as a very attractive view over the park. Continue straight ahead towards the forest where you will find a waterfall and another pond. Continue past the chapel of the De Nexon family, the castle's former owners. Slightly further on, you will arrive at a fork in the road. Turn left and follow the path straight ahead. After a while, you will see one of the park's exits on your left, continue straight ahead. You will arrive at another fork in the road. If you turn left, you will be able to visit the Garden of the Senses. If you turn right, you will return to the castle where the walk ends.
