New bridge circuit

Depart from the town of Orval sur Sienne, latitude 49.0133900 (N 49° 0’ 48”), longitude -1.4708200 (W 1° 28’ 15”)

• The cross hosannière

• In the cemetery is a cross "hosannière". It is placed on a stepped base. These particular crosses are abundant in Poitou, a little in Vendée and in the Loire Valley.

• The new bridge

• Built in the 1600s in a Gothic style, it was designed to cross the river, but also for fishing. This donkey bridge was used to string nets across the river. Hardware to hold the nets are always visible.

• Lime kilns

• The lime kilns are built in the 18th and 19th centuries. Implanted in the bottom of the quarries, one exploited the calcareous rock and one used as fuel the gorse pushing in the "jannières". Lime was used to amend the land, to clean homes, barns and fruit trees and to make mortars for construction

• The miraculous water of Saint Helena Fountain

• Before returning to the village, take a look near the railway bridge. The water that sprouted from this fountain was known for its healing properties. The laundry, in front of the fountain, has been completely restored.
