Under the imposing gaze of the turrets of the bell tower of the church of Cayres, set off to explore Mount Recours, a former volcano offering a panoramic view of the Devès and Velay mountains. An orientation table will allow you to locate these landscapes with a rich geological past.

Go in the direction of Saint-Pierre church.
The departure is located at the bottom of the stairs of the church.
From the church of Cayres, with your back to it, take the road on the left. Continue straight ahead to leave the village, then take the second lane on the left.
Let the PR 312 go to the right to continue on this small tarmac road. At the end of it, four paths are offered.
Take the path furthest to the left, on the edge. Further on, he slants to the right to enter the forest. At the crossroads, take opposite. Stay on the main path in a straight line under the trees. At the crossroads, continue straight ahead and join the D 333 road. Cross it then follow the grassy path on the right between the two roads. When the path approaches the road, reach the "Chemin du Mont Recours" on the left.
Take this path on the left. It rises then oblique to the right. Reach a fork.
Go up to the right on the access path to the summit. There, at the orientation table, use the other path to go down. In the descent, the path slants to the left then joins an intersection. Continue straight on until you come to a road. Cross it (be careful!) To take the path on the left. Cut a tarmac road then, immediately, follow the path to the left. Come out onto a road.
Follow it to the left for 150 m, then take the D 33 on the right for another 200 m to discover a narrow path on the right. Use the latter to cross the wood of Auteyrac. At the perpendicular dirt road, go right to reach a branch.
Take the path furthest to the left. When you arrive at Cayres, turn right into the lane which leads to a square. Go left to find the starting point.
