Itinerary

In the centre of the village, take the D56 towards Nouziers. Turn right at an old ditch, the former site of Moutier monastery, now destroyed, then the church and the granite cross.

Walk down the street. On the left, there is a well and, slightly further away, on the way out of the town, you will see the old mill.

At the intersection, hidden in the trees, a wooden cross, called the "croix de la mission".

At the bridge, continue towards Les Forges. On your right, you will see a granite cross. On the left is the hamlet of Les Pouyoux.

Here, take the path on the right and pass through the chestnut forest. This was the old Guéret path. There is plenty of boxwood and holly. At the intersection, you will see an iron cross on the left. Take the path opposite where you will find many periwinkles. This zone comprises hills where the rock is sometimes visible just above the surface. Streams gush forth. Cross the first stream over the small bridge and continue along the path/stream. Turn left at the end. After about 300 m, you will see a private lake on the right.

Turn left on to the path which leads to the hamlet of La Fouette. Pass through the hamlet and join the farm track which offers a panoramic view over the town of Genouillac. Continue to the hamlet of Prévenchère. Turn right just before the hamlet.

Cross the D990 and take the path opposite. The hedge forms a curtain of varied plants (beech, hazel, chestnut). At the end of the path, turn left. You will see the old SNCF railway house and the crossing over the old Genouillac - La Châtre railway line (closed since 1957).

Turn right. Slightly further on, you will see a typical Berry house. Turn left on to the trail and cross the bridge over the Lamy Wood stream. You will be able to enjoy a view over Bonnat.

Pass through the village of Péplisson, very old hamlet on the right and the left, then turn right.

550 m behind the house, turn right on to the path that will lead you to Prétabouret. This is actually the border between the municipalities of Moutier-Malcard and Mortroux.

After the farm, where the path/road veers left, take the path on the right. Continue straight ahead (Lamy Wood). Zizim Tower, welcomes you to its natural setting on the left, behind the sign "danger travaux". At the forestry house, continue straight ahead and leave the woods. Take the path on the right and then take the first path on the left. At the end, turn right and after 130 m, turn right again. Return to where you started.

Attention! There is a great deal of plant life in Creuse thanks to the springs and small streams to be found everywhere. The subsoil is hard and that is why you will sometimes find large puddles. If you really want to cross them, keep to the dry ground beside them. But, if there is livestock, be very wary of cattle. The mothers are very protective and can sometimes be quite aggressive. Always remember to close gates! On the way, you will find wires (blue). They do not mean that you cannot cross them. Farmers install them for moving cattle which think that they are electric wires and, therefore, do not stray from the path. Please respect private property and do not leave any waste behind you.
