My wife and I, along with another couple and a single friend, rented this property (http://languedocvacationhome.ca) for a week in September 2019 (15-22). The house was perfect for our needs (2 bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms and a 3rd bedroom with access to a half-bathroom) with a great kitchen-dining area, a living room-tv space, a rooftop terrace, a balcony onto the street, and all the modern amenities (washer, dryer, dishwasher and microwave in addition to regular kitchen appliances). But leaving aside the comfort of the house itself, Neffies was a charming village, with lovely little narrow streets and byways, a village square with a boulangerie offering fresh baked goods (especially croissants, pains au chocolat and baguettes) every morning, a 13th century church, and two very good restaurants, Le Very'Table and L'Escampette, both of which we tried and enjoyed very much. Neffies proved to be a perfect base from which to explore some of the incredible sights of southern France - the Papal Palace at Avignon; the Pont du Gard, the Maison Carree and the Arene in Nimes; the Canal du Midi and the Cathedral of Saint-Nazaire in Beziers; the castle complex and keep in Carcassone; and so much more. We stumbled across some unexpected gems - the Royal Manufacturies at Villeneuvette; the Abbye de Valmagne near Montagnac; and the medieval heart of nearby Pezenas, which also offered us glimpses of the life of Moliere when he was in exile from Paris in the 1650s. We used Neffies as our base to go swimming in the Mediterranean (at Agde) and to do some wine tasting in the Minervois (Chateau de Peraza in particular). It was such a pleasure to explore the region, but it was always so nice to return to Libellule each evening.
