Created in 1992 and named in honour of the famous Marquise de Pompadour, the Pompadour potato is mainly produced in Picardy. Due to its high quality, it has been awarded Label Rouge certification and the Terroirs de Picardie quality mark. This potato is a cross between the BF15 and Roseval, and although it is very fragile, it has a unique flavour that delights fans of this vegetable. It benefits from a mild, temperate climate, as well as the nutritional qualities of the sandy coastal soils.

Coppery yellow in colour, the Pompadour potato is a late variety that appears between late August and early September. It is appreciated for the way it keeps its shape during cooking, and can be steamed, boiled, made into rissoles or a gratin, or served in a salad.

Rich in fibre, vitamins and minerals, the Pompadour potato is excellent for the health. It reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases and its high starch content helps to reduce harmful cholesterol levels.
