A mistelle-type alcoholic aperitif, Normandy pommeau, which has an AOC, is a blend of two-thirds fermented Norman apple juice and one-third Calvados.
Always served chilled, it offers the taste buds a delicious sweet and fruity flavour that works perfectly as an aperitif. Normandy pommeau is also ideal to accompany foie gras, melon or desserts, especially chocolate desserts. It is also found in many sauces in Normandy.
Normandy pommeau is also found in many cocktails such as the Normand for instance, which is made of Normandy pommeau, Calvados AOC from Pays d'Auge, orange and pomegranate juice, and ice cubes. Pommeau is also made in a neighbouring region, Brittany.
