It would be difficult to find a speciality more typical of Paris than the famous jambon-beurre sandwich. The proof of this is the snack's other name – the Parisien! This is the most popular sandwich in France, with 2.2 million sold every day, and it can be found in every bakery or local bar.
It is traditionally made from a piece of Parisian baguette which is split and buttered before slices ofJambon de Paris ham are added. There are variations to this, with lettuce, gherkins, cheese or chips sometimes added.
