Area of apple trees, the Pays d'Auge is famous for its cider production carrying an AOC quality label. The 40-kilometre "Route du Cidre" cider trail, which passes through typical villages, such as Cambremer, Beuvron-en-Auge and Bonnebosq, is a must for visitors.

Calvados is a cider brandy that also carries the AOC quality label. The traditional Normandy "trou" is a glass of calvados served in the middle of a meal. Pommeau, another local speciality, is an aperitif made of calvados and apple juice.

In Normandy, one geographical area of ​​production allowed for Calvados, there are three Appellations d'Origine Contôlées: Calvados Pays d'Auge Calvados Calvados Domfrontais.

These three areas have been identified by name Institut National des Appellations d'Origine (INAO).
