Very different from the traditional French macaron, this treat from Amiens is nonetheless a real treat for the taste buds. A thick, uneven puck-shaped biscuit, it's very tender inside and crispy on top. It was made famous by the Trogneux company, based on a treat brought over by Catherine de' Medici when she first arrived in France in the 17th century.
A real emblem of the city, this macaroon is made of almond paste, sugar, honey, eggs and vanilla, which gives it a delicious sweet flavour that goes wonderfully with a nice cup of coffee or tea in the afternoon!
