I stayed at La Laurentine with a friend for 2 nights, prior to doing a walking tour the following week. In the past I have stayed at hotels in Lyon, however due to the high accommodation demand during the Euro16 competition, there was nothing available for a semi-reasonable rate at a hotel. La Laurentine was available for a reasonable rate and in a good location, so the booking was made. On arrival in the evening, after a long trip from Australia, we realised what an attractive and peaceful spot it was, with a beautiful, fragrant garden in full bloom. After leaving the bags in our lovely cool room, we wandered out to a nearby cafe for a drink and a light meal. The following day was spent exploring the areas of Vieux Lyon and Presqu'Ile, renewing my fond appreciation for this wonderful city and enjoying the rambunctious Euro16 fans colourfully supporting their teams. With purchases from Paul Bocuse Les Halles de Lyon, we had a really enjoyable al fresco dinner on our little patio at La Laurentine. We left the following morning with some sadness, and fond memories of our stay at La Laurentine.
