Every year in mid-September, the Touraine Loire Valley Marathon is an event for all lovers of running, whether they are experience athletes or just beginners. Known for being particularly accessible, the route of the Touraine Loire Valley Marathon totals 42 km and runs along the banks of the Loire and its tributary, the Cher. The race goes past Villandry Castle and its French formal gardens, and the villages of Berthenay, Saint-Genouph and La Riche before reaching Place Anatole France Tours. The secure environment does not present any major difficulties and is accessible to marathoners with disabilities.
There are many music events and parties to accompany the race. On the eve of the Marathon, a "Pasta-Party" is thrown for the participants and their families. During the race, the supporters in fancy dress accompany the runners as bands provide music. The event attracts more than 15,000 runners in a sporty and friendly atmosphere.
