Every year for four days, the Street Theatre Festival opens the whole town of Aurillac to street artists and some 100,000 spectators. Since its first instalment in 1986, the festival has always wanted to make way for all street artists who want to perform in Aurillac. Today, around 500 troupes from all over the world gather here to make Aurillac Street Theatre Festival an exceptional event of creativity, research and artistic dissemination. Hundreds of outdoor shows are organised during the day, and in the evening, a big party takes place to the sound of wild percussion sounds. Encounters between professionals and the public are an important part of this creative event.
Ahead of the main event, the festival unveils part of the official line-up at the Preliminaries (Les Préalables), an event where troupes are welcomed in the local communes, thus creating new rhythms, a new way of looking at things and new encounters with the public.
