Tout est Paysage. Une Architecture Habitée.
- From 17 to 24 april 2024
- Maison départementale de l'environnement, Rue du Malsaucy
- As early as the 1960s, Belgian architect Lucien Kroll and his wife Simone, a potter and gardener, were sketching out the contours of a different kind of architecture, giving residents the power to imagine, decide and build collectively. From the 1960s onwards, Lucien Kroll was opposed to the mass urbanisation and industrialisation of housing, imagining a habitat designed for civility rather than crane paths, offering the privacy and freedom without which we cannot live together. The exhibition is presented in a way that is simple, effective and pragmatic, but also committed, determined and joyful, in keeping with Lucien Kroll's desire for "a peasant exhibition". Suspended banners form a surprising landscape, recounting, in the words, photographs and drawings of Lucien Kroll, almost 80 projects and achievements celebrating their commitment to places and people, and to evolving, living projects. Presented in Paris and several other European cities, the exhibition is presented here for the first time in a building designed by Lucien Kroll.
