Every year in May, the superb Eyrignac Manor Gardens celebrate orchids at the heart of Black Périgord, 20 kilometres north of Sarlat.
For three days, the site hosts an exhibition and sales area and also offers the public a wide range of novel activities, like potting workshops, botany conferences, tasting sessions with plant-based dishes, children's workshops and discovery walks to see wild orchids. Many enthusiastic flower producers attend the event and offer a wide range of orchids (hybrids and botanicals) as well as other rare plants like Epiphytic bromeliaceae and Tillandsia.
The Orchid Days are also an opportunity to visit Eyrignac Manor Gardens. Planted with yew, box, hornbeam and cypress trees, they are arranged in a French-style garden with many plant sculptures. Listed as "Remarkable gardens", they provide a splendid backdrop for Eyrignac Manor, which was built in the 17th century.
